Tuners

 

There are lots of different tuners on the market, most commonly they are pedals which you can plug your bass directly into or they are small devices which clip on to the headstock of your instrument

Buying a bass

Buying a bass is a really personal choice, it depends on your musical style and sonic preference. A good ‘baseline’ bass guitar is the Fender Precision. I personally prefer the Fender Jazz for my style of playing and preferred tone but both are great mildly priced bass guitars.

 

 

 Strings

There a a few different types of strings on the market right now. The two most common are flat wound and round wound. Flat wound strings are more thuddy and dull, where-as round wound strings are brighter. Flat wound strings tend to keep a consistent tone for long periods of time where-as round wound strings start off bright but then go dull.

 

 Leads/Amps

Here is a list of good quality instrument leads that are a worthwhile investment if you plan on playing the bass for a number of years. Leads break all the time so it’s worth spending some $$$ on good quality leads that wont break or have lifetime warranty.
